Things have not changed as much as you think.

In designing Butternut, fixed in my mind are images
of growing up shopping at holiday bazaars, the frenzied
activity of whipping up gifts the night before Christmas:
embroidering a name on a pillow, knitting up some
monster mittens, not too fussy - simple, cute…iconic.

I have always “made it myself”, but have never considered
myself a craftsperson, just an idea person. For me, ideas
dictate the simplicity of the designs, tapped into primal
influences and experiences

This collection of Butternut is inspired
by characters of the forest, iconic elements of artists
such as Picasso and Piet Mondrian, vintage Scandinavian
knits and of course, those annual summer visits to
classically nautical Salem, Massachusetts!
